Yurena Díaz signs with Campus Promete

Spanish combo guard Yurena Díaz has signed for the 2016-17 season with Campus Promete, team who last year remained in Liga Femenina and consolidated as a squad of the Spanish top division.

Yurena, joins Campus Promete after a season playing in the strongest European leagues, as she played until Christmas break in the French First Division with Lyon and in January she signed with MKS Polkowice of the Polish top division, where she reached the semifinals of that competition.

The Canarian guard with play alongside our player Robyn Parks, will be coached by our coach Andreu Bou and will be the reinforcement guiding Logroño's game.

Yurena Díaz is a Spanish combo guard, born in 1993 who has impressive experience in Spanish national teams as well as in Spanish First Division League.

Her national team experience includes winning 4 Gold Medals, 2 Gold Medals in 2008 and 2009 in the U16 European Championships and 2 more in 2012 and 2013 in the U20 European Championships, 2 Silver Medals in 2010 in the U18 European Championship and in 2011 in the U19 World Championship and 1 Bronze Medal in 2011 in the U18 European Championship.

Furthermore, playing with C.B. Islas Canarias in Spanish First Division League, she had spectacular seasons (averaging 13.3 points in the 2012-13, 10.1 points in the 2013-14 and 11 points in the 2014-15) and being one of the top Spanish scorers in the competition.

Yurena Díaz has played all her life with C.B. Islas Canarias, winning 9 times the Canary Islands and amazingly being 7 times Spanish Champion.

Also Yurena has played with the Canary Islands Regional Team, winning 2 Spanish Championships and also 1 Silver Medal.

Yurena had her debut in Spanish Liga Femenina during the 2009-10 season, being just 16 years old.

Step by step she had every time more playing time even though she had to stop almost the whole 2011-12 season due to a disk hernia that needed surgery.

In the 2012-13 season, Yurena Díaz has proved to be completely recovered and has had a great year averaging 13.3 points 2.6 rebounds 2.5 assists and 3 drawn fouls per game.

Yurena was the MVP of Week 20 with 21 points (5/7 three pointers) 6 rebounds 4 assists and +27 efficiency in the win against Zamora and also shined against Bembibre (23 points 6 assists), Perfumerías Avenida (20 points 4 three pointers 4 rebounds and 15 points and 5 assists).

In the 2013 summer, Yurena Diaz wins the Gold Medal in the U20 European Championship, averaging 9.7 points in 25 minutes per game and being the Final Top scorer with 16 points.

Yurena Díaz continued in Islas Canarias during the 2013-14 season, finishing in 3rd position in Spanish 1st division and averaging 10.1 points 2.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists, being one of the best point guards in the competition.

Yurena Díaz signed with Gran Canaria 2014 Canarias (LFB) in Spanish 1st division during the 2014-15 season, averaging 11 points and 2.9 rebounds with 8.7 of efficiency in 32.1 minutes per game.

Yurena Díaz played well against Zamarat with 26 points and 3 rebounds with +23 of efficiency, Mann Filter with 12 points and 3 rebounds with +20 of efficiency and Conquero with 15 points and 4 rebounds with +12 of efficiency.

In the first half of this current season, Yurena signed with Lyon, team who plays the French first division league and where she averaged 4.5 points and 1.4 rebounds per game in 19 minutes.

In the second half of this current season, Yurena has signed with MKS Polkowice, where she has reached the Polish first division league semifinals and has contributed with 2.8 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game in 16 minutes.
