The 20th pick of 2006 WNBA Draft plays for Pabellón Ourense

Pabellon  Ourense, in the midst of a difficult situation during this sporting course, has signed until the end of the season  Jennifer Harris, who arrived to Ourense in January 19.



 

Jennifer Harris is one of only two players in the history of the Women's League 2 who has been the drafted in the first 20 picks of the WNBA Draft (the other one  was Danielle Crockrom who played for  Ferrol).

After a week of training to know her teammates and the coach, Jennifer had her first game in Liga Femenina 2 against the leader of the competition, the powerful Badajoz Extremadura.

Despite scoring 13 points (2 three pointers), grabbing  4 rebounds and steal 4 balls, the contribution of Jennifer Harris wasn´t enough to help Pabellón  Ourense challenge one of the best teams in the competition. Badajoz broke  the match from the start with a demolishing 30-13 after  the first period.

However, Jorge Gonzalez´s player  will try to cling to the competition the next game, in which will face the ABDA Avilés Asac Communications, which will mean the debut of Jennifer Harris in the Municipal Hall of Remedios in from of her fans.

Jennifer Harris is an American outside player who after a good career in NCAA was the 20th pick in 2006 WNBA Draft by Chicago Sky. Jennifer played her first two seasons in NCAA for Penn State, one of the best colleges in the country, playing alongside other stars like Tanisha Wright (No. 12 in WNBA Draft 2005) or Kelly Mazzante (No 18, 2004 WNBA Draft). After a first year with limited playing time, Jennifer increased her participation in her sophomore season, averaging 10.4 points per game in a team that finished the season unbeaten at home. Jennifer played her junior and senior years for Washburn University, where after averaging 14.4 points and 4.7 rebounds in 26 minutes in the 2004-2005 season and winning 35 of the 37 games,exploded as a senior with 24,2 points 5.8 rebounds 5.1 assists and 3 steals being named the best player of the competition. In WNBA Draft in 2006, Jennifer Harris was selected at number 20 for Chicago Sky.

Other players who have starred in the WNBA or in Europe were chosen behind her, for example Dalila Eshe (# 25), Kasha Terry (# 26), Kerri Gardin (# 34) or Zane Teilane (# 35). The legendary Dave Cowens talked about the reasons that took them to draft Jennifer, like that she could play several positions or that she was a good shooter and slasher. During the 2006-2007 season, Jennifer Harris signed for Migrosspor and played in the turkish first division. In her first European experience, Jennifer averaged 10.1 points and 4.9 rebounds per game.

During the next season, Jennifer returns to Migrosspor and becomes one of the leading scorers in the competition with 16.1 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. The Swedish league was her final destination that season, playing with Solna Vikings the playoffs and becoming Swedish Champion, averaging 15 points per game despite playing point guard, not her best position. Jennifer Harris started the 2008-2009 season in Ragusa, Croatian team which also played FIBA Europe Cup. In FIBA Cup, Jennifer averaged 13.4 points and 3.8 rebounds playing against Leon, Spanish first division team and Athinaikos, Greek first division team.

Jennifer Harris is a player with excellent physical skills and also a talented technical player, things that help her to score easily and also to rebound and get steals at a high level. addition to a good physical skills, weapons with getting scoring easily in the rebound and steal many balls.
