Tamara Tatham extends her contract with Piestanske Cajky for 1 more season
Our player Tamara Tatham, starting power forward in Canada National Team, has just signed her extension with slovakian team Piestanske Cajky, club that reached for the first time the Final of Slovakian Cup and which also reached the League Semifinals.
Tamara, who will compete in the World Championship in Turkey this summer, has averaged 13.7 points 6.9 rebounds and +17.3 efficiency per game.
In the following lines [@TamaraTatham@] reviews this past season and her future:
After playing the qualifiers for the World Championship and winning
the silver medal, you signed last November with Piestanske Cajky. What
were your expectations before arriving to the team and to Slovakia and
how has your season been?
My expectations when arriving to
the team was to come in and find any way that I can help them be
successful. It was my first experience playing in three leagues at the
same time so I also expected it to be very busy. My season started off
overwhelming but ended off great! We finished 3 place in the slovak
league and it was a huge accomplishment for the club.
Piestanske you reached the Cup Final and also the Semifinals in the
League. How do you rate the season for your team and your performance?
think our team played at a very high level in the cup as well as the
playoffs. We came close to making the finals in the slovak league but
fell short. I was playing some of my best basketball but like always, I
think I can do even better!
After 6 months in
Piestanske, both the team and you have decided to extend the contract
for one more season. Was it easy to decide for you to stay in the team
and what were the main reasons for your deicision?
It was a
pretty easy decision. I liked playing with this group of girls and I
also loved playing for the coaches! The club really takes care of their
players and its something that is not always seen in professional clubs
around Europe. I think sometimes when you find a good thing you also
should find a way to hang onto it.
Next September you will
be playing the World Championship in Turkey with Canadian National
Team. What are your feelings towards that championship and what are the
chances for your NT? What is NT for you?
I am really happy
to be playing World Championships this fall! It will be my second time
attending this tournament and I find that here you see the level of
women's basketball and how great it is! For sure the World's is one of,
if not the best tournaments to be a part of!
I think our
national team has a huge chance to show people what Canada has to offer
in the basketball world. People don't really look at Canada as a
basketball nation, now we are slowly but surely surprising people every
single year! Hopefully we can turn heads at this tournament.
is an absolute honour to be able to play for and represent my national
team. There is no feeling in the world like wearing that jersey with
the word CANADA written across my chest, playing the sport I love.
