Montenegrin power forward Milka Bjelica won this weekend the Polish Cup after beating CCC Polkowice 67-56 in semifinals and destroying Energa Torun in the big final 78 to 50.
In the first semifinal, played between Lotos and CCC , Milka Bjelica scored 13 points to support Babkina (18) and Jujka (16). Only Amisha Carter with 16 and Majewska with 11 contributed for Polkowice in game in which Lotos had a seven point lead at halftime but that was very close during the third quarter and only a great last quarter by Gdynia allowed them to reach the final.
So after this win, Lotos Gdynia, who had a 15-7 record in League left out of the final CCC Polkowice, who was having a great season in League with an impressive 19-3 record.
The second semifinal was quite surprising since Energa Torun (14-8) defeated Wisla Can-Pak (20-2) in a really close game, 67 to 64.
Lotos Gdynia gave no option to Energa Torun in the Final and leaded by Monica Wright who had 28 points and also with the help of Elina Babkina (17), Olivia Tomialowicz 12) and Milka Bjelica (6) finally won the 2011 Polish Cup.
With this title, Lotos Gdynia continues her successful recovery after they signed head coach George Dikeoulakos al banquillo and Milka Bjelica adds a new title to her bright career.
In the current season, Milka Bjelica has averaged 13,3 points and 6,1 rebounds in Euroleague and 12 points and 8,1 rebounds in Polish League.
