Kiva´s basketball career starts at Hudson´s Bay High School in Washington, where she is the top scorer and MVP, averaging 12,6 points and 8,3 rebounds in her junior year and 15,6 points and 8,6 rebounds as a senior.
After High School, Kiva Herman accepted a scholarship at San Diego University, increasing her performance each year.

In the 2008-09 season and as a senior player , Kiva Herman averaged 18,4 points and 4 rebounds per game, with excellent 51,2% from the field and 82,3% in free throws, leading San Diego to a nice season with 19 wins and 13 losses.
