Jacinta Monroe, 6th pick in 2010 WNBA Draft, signs with Mann Filter Zaragoza
American center Jacinta Monroe has signed a profesional contract with Mann
Filter Zaragoza and will play in Spanish Liga Femenina 2011-12 for Coach Victor
Lapeña, who recently won the Gold Medal in the U16 European Championship.
Jacinta will team with bulgarian Jaklin Zlatanova and with two other inside
players also with experience in Spain, combinating for an impressive
This will be the first european experience for Jacinta Monroe, who was
really excited about playing in Spain, and will continue her pro career after
playing last season in China.
Jacinta Monroe is a 1,95m american
center who after a brilliant career at Florida State University was
selected in the 6th pick of 2010 WNBA Draft.
20,6 points 15,9 rebounds 8,5 blocks and 4,4 steals per game in High
School during the 2005-2006 season, which helped her to get various
awards and to choose Florida State Univeristy between multiple offers.
During the 2006-07 season and as a
freshman player, Jacinta was named in the best rookie team in ACC and
averaged 8,1 points and 6 rebounds in 23 minutes per game.
Jacinta increases her production during
her sophomore year with 10,2 points 6,2 rebounds and 2,5 blocks per game
in 22 minutes and improves in her junior year with 13,1 points 7,4
rebounds and 2,5 blocks per game being named in the second best team in
ACC and in the best defensive team.
During the 2009 summer, Jacinta plays
the University World Championship in Belgrade with United States
National Team and averages 7,3 points 4,9 rebounds per game, being also
Jacinta Monroe averages 13,2 points 7,3 rebounds and 2,4 blocks in 26 minutes per game during the 2009-10 season.
Florida State achieves a great 29-6
record and wins until the NCAA Elite Eight where they lose against the
future champion, UCONN.

and Honorable Mention All-NCAA. Once her college career was over,
Jacinta Monroe was selected as the 6th pick in the 2010 WNBA Draft by
the Washington Mystics.
