Itziar Llobet and Mireia Vila sign with Universitario Ferrol

Catalan players Itziar Llobet and Mireia Vila have signed with Universitario Ferrol for the 2013-14 season.

Mireia Vila arrives to Ferrol after 4 years in the United States playing for Saint Joseph´s, Atlantic 10 Conference Champion last season.  With the U20 Spanish National Team, Mireia won the Gold Medal in the European Championship in Novi Sad 2011.

Itziar Llobet arrives to Ferrol after having her debut in Spanish Liga Femenina last season with Burgos, finishing in 5th position.  This summer, Itziar has won the Gold Medal in the U20 European Championship in Samsun, scoring 10 points in the Final.

Mireia Vila is a 1.82m Spanish small forward born in 1991 and with experience in Spanish Youth National Teams (7.1 points in 19 minutes per game in the Gold in the 2011 U20 European Championship) and also in the United States where she has played for 4 years for Saint Joseph´s, becoming Atlantic 10 Champion in the 2012-13 season.

Mireia Vila started playing basketball at C.B.Vilassar de Mar from where she moved to Unió Esportiva Mataró in the 2001-02 season.

Being still U11, she won the Spanish U12 Championship after a great performance.

In the 2002-03 season, Mireia Vila suffers an important injury that due to her age doesn´t let her play again until the 2005-06 season, when she returns to Mataró Basquet.

Mireia practices with the U15 Spanish National team in that year and in the 2006-07 season she makes the Catalan Team that finishes third in the Spanish Championship, averaging 9 points 6.5 rebounds and 9.8 in efficiency in 20 minutes per game.

Mireia also qualifies for the Spanish Club Championship where she averages 9.8 points, 11.4 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 16.6 in efficiency that help U.E.Mataró to finish in fourth position.

In the 2007 summer, Mireia plays the Poinçonnet and the Italy Tournament with the U16 Spanish National Team.

In the 2007-08 season, Mireia is selected in the Catalan Championship First Team and in the 2008-09 season she wins the Catalan Championship and also the Silver Medal in the Spanish Championship after averaging 16 points 5 rebounds and 14.8 in efficiency per game.

After the 2008-09 season, Mireia Vila accepts a full scholarship at Saint Joseph´s where she plays for 4 seasons winning the Atlantic 10 Tournament in 2013 after a nice season with 23 wins and only 9 defeats.

Finally in 2010, Mireia Vila makes the U20 Spanish National Team coached by Lucas Mondelo and wins the Silver Medal in the European U20 played in Latvia, helping the team with 3.3 points and 2 rebounds in 13 minutes per game.

In the 2011 summer, Mireia plays her last tournament with Spanish National Youth Teams and wins the Gold Medal in the U20 European Championship, having an important role and averaging 7.1 points and 2.9 rebounds in 19 minutes per game, shining against Latvia with 21 points and 3 three pointers.

Mireia Vila is a smart player with a high basketball IQ, with a forward body but a point guard mind, good three point shooter, unselfish and with real nice court vision.

After 4 years in the States, working a lot to improve her body but without much playin time, Mireia Vila is ready to return to spain and prove her level.  Up to 8 players of her generation are currently playing in Spanish Liga Femenina.

Itziar Llobet is a 1.80m spanish guard born in 1993 with a brilliant career both with clubs and national teams.

Itziar´s career began at Unió Esportiva Sant Cugat from where she made the catalan U12 team that won the Spanish U12 Championship in 2005.

After that season,  Itziar signed with UB FC Barcelona where she stays 2 years, becoming U14 Catalan Champion, U15 Spanish Champion both in Clubs and with Catalunya and U16 Catalan Champion being two years younger.

Itziar Llobet recieves a full scholarship and joins Siglo XXI in the 2007-08 season, year in which she plays with the U16 Catalan Team, finishing the U16 Spanish Championship in third position.

In the 2008-09 season and still as a U16 player, Itziar plays in Spanish LF2 averaging 5 points and 2 rebounds in 16 minutes per game.

She also wins the Silver Medal in the U16 Spanish Championship with Catalunya.

Itziar Llobet wins the gold medal in the World Championship for Schools played in Turkey during May 2009.

In the 2009 summer, Itziar Llobet wins the Gold Medal in the U16 European Championship, averaging 6,9 points 2,2 rebounds 2 steals and 1,9 assists in 18 minutes per game and shining against Belarus with 19 points and 5 steals.

Itziar Llobet plays again Spanish LF2 with Siglo XXI in the 2009-10 season and averages 11 points 2,7 rebounds 2 steals and 3 drawn fouls for 8,6 in efficiency in 23 minutes per game , scoring 47 three pointers.

Itziar shines with 19 points in the win against Cref, 19 points 7 steals and 20 in efficiency in the win against Ibaizabal, 23 points and 19 efficiency in the win against Chajeba, 15 points 6 rebounds 5 steals and 17 points 5 rebounds and 16 efficiency in the wins against Conquero, 19 points and 19 in efficiency and 16 points and 16 in efficiency in the wins against Irlandesas, 17 points and 16 in efficiency in the win against Aguere and 16 points 7 drawn fouls 5 rebounds and 23 in efficiency in the win against Mataró.

In the 2010 summer, Itziar plays the U17 World Championship , averaging 8,3 points 2,4 steals (5th best)  2,1 rebounds and 1,9 assists per game.

In the 2010-11 season, Itziar Llobet plays her last season at Siglo XXI, averaging 8,5 points 2,6 rebounds and 2,6 steals per game (third best in Group B).

Itziar shines with 12 points 7 steals 5 rebounds and 16 in efficiency against Ibaizábal, 20 points with 4 three pointers against Irlandesas and 16 points against Conquero.

In the 2011 summer, Itziar Llobet plays the U18 European Championship, averaging 5,1 points 2,2 rebounds 2,3 assists and 1,8 steals in 18 minutes per game, winning the Bronze Medal.

Once her junior year was over,  Itziar accepted a scholarship from Kent State to study and play in the United States during the 2011-12 season.

At Kent State, Itziar is a starter in every game, averaging 9,3 points 3,8 rebounds 2,9 assists and 1,8 steals in 31 minutes per game, scoring 35 three pointers with 34%.

Itziar shines with 19 points and 3 three pointers against Canisius, 20 points 5 rebounds and 3 three pointers against Northern Illinois and 17 points 4 steals and 3 three pointers against Ball State.

In the 2012-13 season, Itziar Llobet signs with Beroil Burgos in Spanish 1st division.

In the 2013 summer, Itziar Llobet won the Gold Medal in the U20 European Championship, scoring 10 points in the final.
