Hind Ben Abdelkader guides Nice to the French League top position

Last Saturday, Hind Ben Abdelkader had an outstanding game, leading with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists to ensure a close victory for Cabigal Nice Basket 06 in Mondeville (83-86).

After playing six rounds with Nice, they are currently undefeated and are leading the competition. Hind has been a major contributor, averaging 13.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in 28 minutes per game, with a three point percentage of 55.6% (15/27).

This season, the young Belgian has stepped up, becoming the starting point guard of her team, and with her current numbers, is the top performing point guard in the league.

Hind Ben Abdelkader is a 20 year-old Belgian point guard with a successful career both with clubs (top scorer in Belgian League 2012-13 with 22 points per game) and national teams, being MVP and Silver Medal in the 2011 U16 European Championship, the top scorer in the 2012 U17 World Championship with 19.4 points per game and the top scorer in the 2015 U20 European Championship with 22 points per game.

Last season she played really well in the Spanish First Division with Cadí La Seu (11.1ppg, 3.0rpg and +8.3 eff), and including they have reached the semi-finals of the competition against Perfumerías Avenida Salamanca.

Now Hind is having a spectacular season in her debut in the French league, leading her team to become the surprise club of the competition, surpassing the two powerhouses of Villeneuve d'Ascq ESB, Bourges Basket and Basket Lattes Montepellier Agglomeration.

The best performances for Hind this season have been against Sasp Lyon Basket Feminin with 21 points (4/5 80% from the field, 3/7 43% from the three point line and 4/5 80% in free throws), 6 assists and +25 efficiency, and against Angers Union Feminin Basket 49 with 13 points, 3 assists and +15 efficiency.

Hind had her first experience with belgian NT playing the 2010 U17 World Championship (being 2 years younger) in which Belgium finished in 4th position and also her first U16 European Championship in which she averaged 9.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game with 69% from the field.

In the 2010-11 season, Hind played for Waregem, averaging 4.8 points in 17 minutes per game and becoming Belgian League Champion.

Hind Ben Abdelkader shines in the 2011 U16 European Championship, averaging 18.9 points 4.2 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game, leading Belgium until the Final and winning the Silver Medal after a tough game against Spain.

Hind Ben Abdelkader was named European Championship MVP, in the first team together with spanish players Leticia Romero and Belén Arrojo, best point guard, second top scorer and third best in assists.

In the 2011-12 season, Hind played for Dexia Namur, avearging 9.7 points in 24 minutes per game in Belgian League (Regular Season Champion) and 6.9 points per game in FIBA Cup.

In the 2012 summer, Hind Ben Abdelkader played the (17 World Championship and averaged 19.4 points (top scorer) 6 rebounds and 2.3 assists per gamem shining against Netherlands and Korea with 29 points, Mali with 25 or Italy with 24.

In the same summer she also played the U18 European championship being the second best scorer with 18.6 points per game and adding also 3.7 rebounds and 3.2 assists.

Hind shined against Italy with 29 points, Czech Republic with 27, Slovenia with 22 and Poland with 20.

In the 2012-13 season, Hind stayed in Belgium, playing for Sint Katelijne Waver and boosting her numbers up to 22 points per game (League top scorer) and 4.9 rebounds per game, playing also FIBA Cup where she averaged 13.8 points and 4 rebounds per game.

In Belgian League, Hind Ben Abdelkader scored 49 points with +55 efficiency in the win against Dennet and Vanloo´s Waregem (which finished in 3rd position), 38 points against Point Chaud, 31 against Blue Cats or 30 against Kangoeroes Boom, with 49.3% in field goals and 36.9% in three pointers during the whole season.

In FIBA Cup, Hind had 18 points + 8 rebounds and 16 points + 4 rebounds against Dynamo Novosibirsk and 20 points against Wasserburg.

Hind Ben Abdelkader accepted a scholarship at California University in the 2013-14 season (NCAA Final Four Semifinalist last season) and averaged 5 points in 19 minutes per game, having 18 points against CSU Bakersfield, 10 against Wake Forest and Georgetown and 9 against the champion, UCONN.

In February 2014, Hind returned to Belgium and to Sint Katelijne Waver where she averaged 14 points 3.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

In the 2014 summer, Hind Ben Abdelkader won the Bronxze Medal in the 3x3 World Championship played in Moscow and the Silver Medal in the Skills Contest.

Hind Ben Abdelkader signed in Spain during the 2014-15 season, playing for 4th best team, Cadí la Seu and averaging 11.1 points and +8.3 efficiency in 25 minutes per game.

In the summer 2015, Hind was the top scorer of the U20 European Championship played in Lanzarote with 22 points per game.
